Sundance London adds doco talks

The Sundance Institute and The O2 have announced a program of talks and musical performances dubbed The Festival Hub as part of the second Sundance London film and music festival.

Admission to The Hub, will be open to all Sundance London pass and ticket holders 18 and older from April 25-28.

In an interesting bit of phraseology, the talks are described in the festival?s press material as ?a dialogue inspired by film in a relaxed, engaging environment. Participants are linked to a subject or idea but the form of these events is open to their interpretation.?

Of particular interest to the non-fiction film enthusiast is a Filmmaker Hub Talk Saturday, April 27 at 2:00pm featuring veteran documentarian Barbara Kopple (Harlan County U.S.A., Running from Crazy) as well as directors Roger Ross Williams (God Loves Uganda) and Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish). Event literature promises the guests ?will discuss the process of directing films full of powerful, emotional resonance that focus on urgent causes of global concern.?

At four that afternoon the filmmaking team behind the award-winning doco Blood Brother will join Sundance Institute and Kickstarter reps to discuss fundraising and audience-building using that site in a program called Kickstarter and Creative Independence.
